Webinar Spring 2022 and our lustrum this year! View online

From our chair, Dan Assendorp, on behalf of the board:

Dear Physical Geographers and Earth Scientists (what is the difference?)

A new year, new chances and perhaps also new changes. Last year we had a mixed year with online meetings as well as meetings on location and I hope that the coming year we can keep combining the best of both worlds with webinars and symposia. Perhaps even an annual meeting to make plans for future Lulofs activities.

However the most important is our sixth lustrum we plan to celebrate at the end of this year. Of course, the board of Lulofs is already making plans but ideas from Lulofs members are always welcome, please send them to us. Despite al these promising plans and ideas for the coming year and the successful meetings we had last year, there is also sad news about physical geographers that passed away last months. The emails that were send following the passing of Jan, Ton, Pim, Leo and Koos can still be read on the newsletter page of the Lulofs website.

I hope this year we have some inspiring meetings to look forward to  and look back with all Physical Geographers and Earth Scientists alike. In the following newsletter I will try to share my ideas on the difference but mainly on the similarity between these caring guardians of our physical environment.

Would you like to be one of our webinar speakers this spring?

Last year we had three excellent webinars (see below how to get access to the recordings) and this year we aim to organise another one. We are looking for interested alumni - preferably working in government, NGOs or industry - to talk about either their job, their post-study journey or a relevant topic related to physical  geography or earth sciences. Please get in touch!

6th Lustrum Lulofs & GAOS - Lulofs medal nominees

This year also marks the 6th lustrum of both our alumni association, as well as the study association GAOS. To celebrate our 30th anniversary on the 17th of November, we are planning to organise a symposium in Amsterdam and some other activities. More details will be shared in upcoming newsletters.

In the meantime: please let us know who you would like to nominate for the Johannes Lulofs Medal.
